Justice for Prakriti Lamsal: Stand Against Discrimination
As a Nepali student, I am deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic loss of our fellow student, Prakriti Lamsal, at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Prakriti's untimely death has not only left a void in our hearts but has also highlighted the pressing issues of harassment and discrimination faced by Nepali students abroad.
Reports indicate that Prakriti endured persistent harassment from a fellow student, leading to her tragic decision. The subsequent actions by the university administration, including the abrupt directive for Nepali students to vacate the campus, have exacerbated our distress and sense of alienation.
In these challenging times, it is imperative for us to unite and demand:
A thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding Prakriti's death.
Accountability and justice for those responsible for the harassment and any administrative negligence.
Immediate cessation of discriminatory practices against Nepali and other international students.
Implementation of robust support systems to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, irrespective of their nationality.
Let us come together to honor Prakriti's memory by advocating for a safer and more inclusive environment for all students. Our voices matter, and together, we can bring about meaningful change.
